Initial Research

Didot

For this project, I was assigned the typeface "Didot". Beyond researching the origins and characteristics of our typeface, we were asked to write a short essay that would later be used for our copy in the spread and video.

Reflection & Takeaways

This project allowed me to explore typographical variables, focusing on how visual hierarchy, typesetting, and motion influence perception and communication. Through a series of graphical studies, I experimented with type as both a functional and expressive element, testing different compositions to refine my understanding of balance, spacing, and contrast.

The animation component pushed this exploration further, requiring me to think about how typography behaves in motion. I considered timing, pacing, and fluidity to enhance legibility while creating dynamic visual interest. This process reinforced the importance of typography not just as static design but as an evolving, interactive experience.
