Final Thoughts
Reflection & Takeaways
My time as a NASA intern has been an invaluable opportunity to apply my design skills in a research-driven environment. From the start, I had to adapt to NASA’s branding and communication standards, ensuring that all visuals maintained clarity, accuracy, and consistency. One of my key responsibilities has been designing visual assets that translate complex scientific and engineering concepts into engaging and accessible graphics. Working closely with researchers, engineers, and outreach teams, I’ve learned how to bridge the gap between technical content and public engagement through effective design.
Beyond creative tasks, I had the chance to contribute more holistically across the team, supporting various marketing and communication efforts. I wrote copy for multiple social media posts, helped host tours and events at the center, and provided valuable feedback and insight across different sectors. This experience allowed me to step outside my design role and understand the broader impact of storytelling and outreach in a scientific institution.
Above all, interning at NASA was both informative and fun! Our workdays were filled with exciting outings and behind-the-scenes tours, making the experience even more memorable. I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to projects that combine design, education, and science communication, and I look forward to carrying these lessons forward in my career.
