Design Chair (Fall 23-Present)
As the Design Chair for KPDC, I led the branding efforts for each semester’s showcase, developing visual identities that captured the essence of each theme. Through these projects, I strengthened my ability to craft cohesive visual narratives that resonated with both performers and audiences.
KPDC Fall 2023 : Fate
For Fall 2023, our showcase theme was Fate, where we emphasized a celestial and fantasy-like concept, incorporating ethereal visuals to enhance the visuals. The inspiration for this theme was from the "red string of fate".
AMA Fall 2023 : Insyphys
In Fall 2023, our client was Insyphys, where I contributed to brand design, marketing templates, and website design to enhance customer retention and establish a stronger presence in the tech community.
KPDC Spring 2024 : Awaken
For Spring 2024, our theme was Awaken, where I co-led the branding efforts. We focused on a fun, refreshing, and fruity visual concept, creating a vibrant and energetic aesthetic to reflect the theme.
AMA Spring 2024 : Advanced Optronics
In Spring 2024, we worked with Advanced Optronics, focusing on a brand refresh, marketing templates, and website design. Our goal was to help the company appeal to a broader market of medical device manufacturers, improving customer retention.
KPDC Fall 2024 : Allure
For Fall 2024, our showcase theme was Allure, where we emphasized a dark and vampire concept, using bold and moody visuals to evoke a sense of mystery and seduction.
Final Thoughts
Reflection & Takeaways
Balancing my roles in both AMA’s Design Committee and as KPDC’s Design Chair has given me invaluable experience in branding, visual storytelling, and creative leadership across different industries and audiences.
With AMA, I worked on real-world rebranding projects, helping companies like Insyphys and Advanced Optronics develop brand identities, marketing materials, and website designs. These experiences reinforced the impact of strategic design in shaping a company’s presence, increasing customer retention, and engaging target audiences. Through these projects, I learned how to work with clients, interpret brand guidelines, and create visuals that align with business objectives.
At KPDC, I had the creative freedom to craft immersive branding for dance showcases, leading the design direction for themes like Fate, Awaken, and Allure. Each showcase required a distinct visual identity, pushing me to think outside the box and create concepts that resonated emotionally with both performers and audiences. I also strengthened my leadership skills by managing design deliverables, collaborating with committee members, and ensuring the final branding was cohesive across different mediums.
