OverviewAn immersive pop-up experience that engages the community, builds brand awareness, and delivers memorable experiences aligned with ALOHA’s mission and values. This experience transports Pittsburgh residents to the spirit of Hawaii by blending community engagement and brand storytelling into an unforgettable experience about protein bars.

Key Insights

1. Protein bars that appeal to anyone

2. Embracing an
eco-conscious lifestyle

3. Hawaiian roots
From client and market research, I was able to derive a few key insights that guided the ideation for the branded experience. A wonderful thing about ALOHA products is that they're built for all dietary preferences, meaning there is a bar for everyone. ALOHA's products are not only healthy, but great for the environment as well. Sourced from farms with sustainable practices, ALOHA is committed to providing great tasting products with ethical and sustainable principles. Originating from Hawaii, ALOHA also offers two special edition bars made with Hawaiian ingredients sourced directly from farms in Hawaii that help distinguish them from other protein brands.

Concept

Delicious Hawaii:
The Power of Pure Nourishment

The experience focuses primarily on the combination of the Hawaiian roots and ingredients aspect of ALOHA, as these are the key factors that separates them as a brand from other protein bar companies. This includes the transparency of their ingredients and their uniquely sourced ingredients from Hawaii, which all ties back to the added health benefits from their ingredients and products, providing nourishment.

Spatial Diagram

The pop up is largely separated into three large sections within the entire island-like space. The areas were deliberately spaced out to emulate the branded experience as an extension/glimpse into the island life of Hawaii.

First, is the Hawaii at a quick glance. In this area, visitors can get a taste of the greenery and ocean of Hawaii—two central environments in Hawaii—through the special edition Kona and Pa'akai bars.

Second, is the personalization station. This is an area where visitors can learn about the transparent sourcing of ingredients while also receiving a recommendation for the bars.

And last, is the giving back to earth space. Here is where you see the community's flavor profile in this interactive method of giving back to a tree.

User Journey

Here is a glance at the exterior of the experience. While the area is meant to be entered from the bottom, many passerbys walk from all sides of this site, so many of the back walls have been utilized with ALOHA branded graphics to attract passerby from afar and from any direction. The area is meant to be very open, leaving flexibility for the order in which visitors go through each touchpoint. The experience starts at the welcome sign. The signage located throughout is Hawaii-inspired, and the directional signage helps visitors locate the various sections on this mini island. Visitors can therefore choose where to go first.

Personalization Quiz

The quiz maps user responses to seventeen distinct flavor outputs, each paired with a customized personality description that embodies the chosen flavor. Users can explore the ingredients in each bar and their associated health benefits, deepening their connection to ALOHA’s commitment to transparency and nourishment. Serving as both a discovery tool and a memorable interaction, the quiz introduces visitors to the brand in an engaging and meaningful way. Upon completion, users receive a sample of their recommended bar, offering them a firsthand taste of ALOHA.Click here to take the quiz!
